The Billings Metro VISTA Project is offering many summer and full-year AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) positions in 2017!
All of the following positions are a one-year, full-time commitment beginning on July 24, 2017. A five-day On-Site Orientation Training will be held in Billings, Montana from July 24 through 28, 2017. Following orientation, the VISTA members will join their Host Sites to begin service!
Anti-hunger efforts assisting low income families and individuals gain access to healthy food to enhance diets. Projects emphasize holistic, wrap-around services moving low income individuals on a path toward financial independence.
Projects that are designed to build capacity in order to maintain enrollment and support success in school. Projects may include teaching, tutoring, mentoring students, providing supportive services to teachers and school leaders, and expanding after school and learning programs.
The Billings Metro VISTA Project works closely with several local agencies to promote economic, healthcare, and education opportunities for Native Americans living in Billings and on adjacent Reservations.
Projects designed to increase access to preventative and / or health services for low income individuals and underserved populations to address significant healthcare problems including crisis intervention, mental illness, obesity and health care for homeless individuals.
Projects that are designed to further economic opportunity for low income households to access housing and to build assets. Projects may include creating access to emergency housing, transitional services, affordable housing, financial / budget education, income tax assistance, etc.
The Billings Metro VISTA Project supports several statewide economic development and housing initiatives in conjunction with the Montana Department of Commerce. These projects include community planning, housing, and equal opportunity.
