Bike Safety Tips
  • Always wear a helmet!
  • Wear proper clothes - - Bright colors help you to be seen.
  • Make sure your bike is adjusted properly.
  • Make sure your bike's chain, brakes, tires and pedals are in proper working order.
  • Obey all traffic signs and signals. Always use hand signals when stopping or turning.
  • Ride on the right side of the street, along the curb (go the same direction as the cars).
  • Ride single file.
  • Do not swerve in and out of parked or moving cars.
  • Select a safe route to your destination. Use marked paths and safe areas when possible.
  • Avoid busy intersections if possible. When crossing at an intersection, walk your bike across.
  • Stop and look both / all ways before crossing streets.
  • Do not wear headphones while riding.
  • At night, you must have a headlight and rear red light.
  • Lock your bicycle to avoid it being stolen.
  • Above all, be alert and aware of your surroundings. Ride defensively.
