The Code Enforcement Division is part of the Planning and Community Services Department and works in partnership with the citizens of Billings and Yellowstone County to promote and maintain a safe and attractive community.

The Division, in general, enforces:
  • Land use regulations
  • Building codes
  • Business regulations
  • Nuisance codes
  • Sign codes
  • Specific parking regulations
These codes help preserve the health, safety, and quality of life within the City of Billings and Yellowstone County.

Administrative Hours

  • The Code Enforcement front counter will be open during the following hours:
    • Mondays - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
    • Tuesdays - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
    • Wednesdays - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
    • Thursdays - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
    • Fridays - CLOSED
  • CE Division counter will be open for self-service only on Monday through Thursday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm  and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Visitors may leave messages for CE Officers, the CE Clerk or file a written complaint using self-service forms.
  • CE Officers Punt & Green will be on duty Monday through Thursday
  • CE Officer Vegge will be on duty Tuesday through Friday
  • CE Officers are available to meet with complainants or clients by appointment only.
  • Appointments can be scheduled through CE Clerk.
  • Written messages may be left for CE Officers at the front counter. Visitors may leave their contact phone number so an officer can call them back.
