Library Card Application
Obtaining a Card

Residents of Yellowstone County and contracted service Counties are eligible for a library card at no charge. Individuals must show a photo identification with current address and birthdate to receive a library card. Non-residents may purchase regular library cards for $10 per quarter (every three months) or $40 per year.

Residents may register from home by submitting our application form.

Your new library card will be mailed to your physical street address, providing required address verification. On first use, you will be asked to show a photo ID with your new card. You will then be a permanent patron.

Get Registered
Borrowers who register in person will be registered with a new borrower status that is good for one month and that will allow them to have up to six items at a time on their library card. When registering, new borrowers will fill out a postcard that the Library will mail to them as a means of confirming their address.

If the borrower does not bring the postcard back to the Library, and present it at the front desk, the card will expire in 30 days.

A library card must be used to check something out at least once every three years in order to remain current.
